Lockdown Skincare
Tips
While we cannot have our favourite beneficial skincare treatments during lockdown, Dr. Nima recommends the following skincare products and lockdown skincare tips to help perfect and optimise your at home skincare routine.
These tips can help you protect and nourish your skin as best as possible and they also form good habits that your skin will thank you for as the years go by.
Step 1 – Cleanser
The use of a cleanser is ideal to wash your face with first thing in the morning. This helps to remove dead skin cells that can build up on our face while we sleep and cause pores to become blocked and congested. Not only this, but a layer of dead skin cells can give your skin and face a ‘dull’ appearance instead of the radiant glow that you want.
Step 2 – Toner
Using a toner may act as a delivery system for the likes of antioxidants, Vitamin B derivatives and toning acids to the skin. This can help to nourish and ‘feed’ the skin – infusing it with the skincare ingredients that it needs and wants to look it’s best and be at it’s best. Toners are also known to hydrate the skin and prevent it from taking on a dry and flaky appearance.
Step 3 – Serum
Skin serums are very popular and they work to protect your skin from environmental damage (like pollution and UV rays). They also help to reduce the skins inflammatory response. You often only need to use a couple of drops of serum as it is a very potent skincare product that is full of active ingredients. As they work very well to reach the deeper layers of the skin, serums can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Step – 4 Moisturiser
Like the name suggests, one of the best ways to lock moisture into your skin is by using a moisturiser. A skincare product that everyone is familiar with, ideally choose one with an SPF of 30 or above to protect against damage from the sun (which can lead to signs of aging and sun spots). Use your moisturiser last to finish your lockdown skincare routine with an influx of moisture for your skin and as a finishing layer to lock in the benefits of the previous steps!
